
Keeping it Warm Without the Blinding Glare
Nobody likes that jarring, blinding light when they step into a bathroom—especially if there’s a baby in the mix. We wanted to build an infrared heater that gives you that instant “ahhh” feeling of warmth without making you feel like you’re standing under a stadium floodlight. When you’re putting these in a nursery or a bathroom, the light isn’t just a detail. It’s a safety issue. Dealing with the light Standard infrared lamps are kind of aggressive. They blast out a ton of visible light that can really strain sensitive eyes. To fix that, we tweaked the emission curve. By using a specific blend of quartz glass and some internal coatings, we filter out those harsh peaks. Instead of a blinding white light, you get a soft, amber glow. It’s cozy. You still get all the heat you need to take the chill out of a room, but it’s gentle enough that it won’t stress out a baby’s eyes. The nuts and bolts These run on your typical 220V-240V circuit. We use high-purity quartz for the envelope, which basically means the filament won’t burn out early. The cool part? The heat moves via radiation. It warms your skin directly rather than trying to heat up all the air in the room first. It’s much faster. One quick tip:**give the lamp some breathing room.**Since we’ve focused so much on eye safety, the lamp itself still gets very hot. If you cram it into a tight fixture with no airflow, the tube is going to die a lot sooner. Just make sure it can breathe. The trade-off Here’s the honest truth: adding those eye-protection filters does cost you a little bit of power. You might notice a 5-10% dip in how far the heat “throws” compared to a raw, uncoated bulb. But in a small bathroom or a nursery? It’s totally worth it. It’s the difference between a relaxing environment and a surgical ward. If you want total control, just wire it up to a dimmable controller. That way, you can dial the temperature up or down depending on how cold the morning is.
